Funny thing happened the other day in reference to my AdWords account. I got a “Site Violation” email from Google saying that “one of your sites is in violation of our Landing Page and Site Policies.” About another hour later I got a “Warning of possible suspension” email listing 4 more sites.
You see I have a bunch of AdWords campaigns that I disabled years ago. I don’t even own the domains anymore or they are not active. Apparently Google still considers these live campaigns . I guess that on some level that makes sense, but why does the big G need to keep everyone in the dark about what they do? The real fun part is that they tell you that pausing and deleting campaigns will not fix the issues, the only way to fix it is to change the landing page… even on domains I don’t own??? Funny guys, real funny.
So anyway, I went to my account and “deleted” everything. All campaigns, keywords, ads… etc. I wasn’t really using the account, maybe a few dollars worth of clicks per month. I’m hoping I’ve done enough to not get banned down the road, I do like to use their keyword tool. Oh and get this… as of today. They have sent me 2 emails telling me how I haven’t run any ads in the last few days. They want me to “Activate my ads!” and are telling me how I’m “missing out on new customers and sales.” Sheesh, you either want my business or not!
That’s my story, what is yours?
